Unlike our other gel packs, Terra Ice™ features a special film designed to degrade slowly based on its environment. We do not have adequate data to determine the conditions that would allow Terra Ice™ to be reused. Therefore, to be safe, we recommend one-time use of Terra Ice™ gel packs.
The best way to dispose of Terra Ice™ Gel Packs is through a Municipal or Industrial Composting Network. Alternatively, the whole gel pack may be put in the garbage. The complete instructions can be found in this VIDEO.
They can, but the film will take a long time to degrade completely. Industrial and municipal composting facilities use elevated temperatures and mechanical shredding to create a very favorable environment for the degradation of the film. Without those, degradation may take many months.
