How to Dispose of Gel Ice Packs

Recycle

First, cut the corner of the Vortec Ice™ pouch and pour the gel down a household drain or toilet. Next, rinse and dry the the plastic pouch, then recycle it like any other plastic bag.

Discard

Place the whole gel pack into the trash.

Reuse

Rinse, clean and store Vortec Ice™ gel packs in the freezer and use them in lunch boxes or coolers to keep perishables cold.

The content of our gel packs is nontoxic and should not be harmful if ingested in small quantities by your child or pet. However if you have any concerns, we recommend you contact your doctor, veterinarian or local poison control center (1-800-222-1222) immediately.

No. Gel packs you receive in shipments are specially formulated for commercial use, and stay cold too long for safe application to the body. Please talk to your doctor or practitioner about our line of physical therapy products, which are the best choice for both cold and hot therapeutic treatments at home.

The exact recipe is proprietary but here are the basic ingredients:

  • Water 99.5%+
  • Gelling Agent: less than 0.5%
